Most mornings may involve activities like snoozing the alarm, skipping breakfast, rushing out the door - basically everything overwhelming but relaxing. If this jogged your memory and you don't want to start your day like this anymore, you probably need to redesign your morning hours and make time to TREAT yourself a little.

Sure, not everyone follows an early morning routine; that starts at 5 am or has time for bubble baths in the early hours. However, the best morning routine for health and a happier start must include simple self-care practices. These small self-care activities will make a BIG difference in your attitude as you begin your day.

Moreover, starting your day positively by pampering yourself will enhance the quality of your entire day.

So, here are 15 of the best morning self-care routine ideas to show yourself some love as soon as you start your day.

Morning Self Care Routine Ideas

1. Wake up gently and naturally

Well, everyone would love to wake up naturally, without listening to the annoying sound of the alarm clock. But the truth is that without an alarm clock, no one would ever wake up on time!

However, you can learn to wake up naturally by maintaining a sleep schedule that allows you 7 to 9 hours of sufficient sleep throughout the week.

Strictly go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Just because you don't have to go to work on weekends does not mean you can sleep in for an hour extra. It will only disrupt your routine.

You can also try the Wake Up Light Alarm Clock, one of the popular alarm clock gadgets. Unlike other alarm clocks, it helps you wake up naturally and gently without being an annoyance.

2. Start your day with lemon water

As soon as you get out of bed, drinking a glass of water is always a good idea. However, squeezing a sliced lemon in your water will add to its benefits. It will definitely boost your energy and help you get going. Besides, what better way to START your day than with a refreshing drink?!

3. Put off using your phone in the early hours

Why? To begin with, looking at your phone as soon as you get out of bed will strain your eyes. Secondly, it will put you in a responsive mindset, diverting your attention elsewhere from your priorities.

Morning hours, in my opinion, are more productive and can make or break your entire day. And therefore, are precious. So, it is crucial to be mindful of what you want to accomplish in those early hours.

That being said, you can always wait to check your phone until breakfast, right? Because scrolling through your phone is NOT what you would want to waste your time doing right after you wake up..!

4. Enjoy a cup of tea while you read

Reading a good book while sipping on your favorite tea is a great way to spend some leisurely time in the morning. You may not get much time. But even 15 minutes of relaxing activity is enough to uplift your mood in those early hours.

5. Stretch, walk, or go for a run

Engaging in some physical activities is a great way to care for your body. And what better time than those early hours when you're less prone to procrastinate!! You can indulge in some stretching exercises or yoga or go for a power walk. Doing any physical activities you like is fine - as long as you're MOVING your body.

6. Listen to your favorite podcast

Here's another great idea - tune into your favorite podcast while running errands or when you are on the go.

Alternatively, if you like reading books but your hectic lifestyle doesn't allow you the time to read, audiobooks are the way to go!

7. Gratitude Journaling

One of the best ways to practice gratitude is by journaling. Keeping a gratitude journal may work wonders for your emotional and mental well-being.

Making this activity a part of your morning routine is another terrific way to begin your day. If not an entire page, at least make it a point to write a simple (3 point) gratitude list daily.

8. Play happy songs to feel great

You may already have a music playlist for every mood. And if not, then you may want to create and play a feel-good music playlist in the morning. It is a guaranteed way to uplift your mood; put a big smile on your face, and begin your day with POSITIVE vibes. Also, listening to music while getting dressed, preparing breakfast, or doing chores won't make your morning look rushed.

9. Make time for self-reflection

Self-reflection is a mindful activity where you assess your thoughts and what's going on in your life and FOCUS on self-awareness. Writing down your thoughts in a journal or reviewing your daily to-do list are effective ways to practice self-reflection. Besides, you don't need to devote an hour to this exercise; a few minutes are enough.

10. Indulge in a mini pampering session

A pampering session at the end of the day is a must. But in the morning, not everyone has the luxury of time to treat themselves. However, this should not keep you from giving yourself a MINI pampering session. It might be as easy as including a few skincare activities in your morning self-care routine.

Nothing fancy; simply wash your face with your favorite face wash. Apply a Morning Face Mask. You can also give yourself a quick facial massage with a Jade Facial Roller. Oh, and don't forget to follow up with a nourishing moisturizer.

11. Engage in a light dry brushing session

Dry brushing your body is a simple self-care practice that involves lightly massaging your body with a body brush; upwards from your toes. It helps get rid of the dead skin cells and improves blood circulation, among other things. Dry brushing can be done any time; however, it is preferable to do it before showering.

12. Spend some extra time getting ready

Self-grooming is itself a self-care practice that can be done with minimal effort. It enhances your self-esteem like nothing else, such that you shine throughout the day. So why not spend some extra time in the morning to look well-groomed and feel EXTRA good?!

13. Treat yourself to a delicious drink

One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is treating myself with a comforting drink. You can prepare one for yourself or buy one on your way to work. Perhaps a caffeine-free latte?

Although, in the summertime, it is best to start your day with a refreshing drink. A glass of fresh juice or a smoothie will make you feel better.

14. Indulge in a fancy breakfast

When was the last time you had a lavish breakfast with your loved ones? You sure don't have time for a fancy breakfast every other day. However, when you feel like pampering yourself (and your family), you may want to cook a delightful breakfast; and enjoy it with your family on Saturday mornings.

15. Beat the morning rush

At some time, you may have been a victim of the chaotic morning rush. It's even worse to see that some people still don't recognize it as a problem and live like that every day. However, you need to understand that the morning rush at your home is the only reason keeping you from having some leisurely time in those early hours. And the simplest way to DEAL with it is to create a system and start your morning the night before!!
